Gas, Taxes, and Beyond

From Nocrashwiki

What if we reduced our gas consumption buy 10%? Great for us bad for government . They would receive 10% less tax money. What would they do? Make due with less? I don`t think so Tim.

We pay 48.6 cents a gallon for the right to buy one gallon of gas and to drive on public roads. They would have to raise taxes. Because the same number of cars, same number of miles driven, same number of roads to maintain and less tax money equals a big problem. We can`t get away from the tax. If our cars were electric we may pay per mile or a flat rate. What if they run off water? Garbage? Solar? Even if we can say "Roads? Where we're going, we don`t need roads." I bet the tax is still there.
