Racism, grass seed and mascots
With names like rebels, confederate and plantation blend. In this time of political correctness, I`m pleasantly surprised that there has not been an out cry for name changes.
Whats in a name?
A name is what you make of it. A Flag means a wide range of things to an even wider range of people. Rebels removed the confederate flag from their bag years ago and they are the #1 brand of grass seed. Images for the confederate flag are not allowed in many schools. I think the names just mean grass seed for the south. A guy with a confederate flag on his pickup truck is just proud to live in the south. What about sports teams that use Indian names for mascots? Is that not a form of flattery? There are Indian names all across this great country. Because they are embedded in our history. We are supposed to be diverse and free from discrimination. Is that possible? Should we all pull for a different team, other than, the one we really want to win? I discriminate everyday. I like the color blue best. I like ford trucks better than chevy. For women I like full figured brunette's so that's who I married. I did not even consider skinny blonde's and i`m sure they're still upset about it. If we truly want diversity we would have to accept the racist and everyone else's discriminating point of view for what it is?
